The new General Manager for Egypt is Dr Hans-Hermann Ecke, who is responsible for the business of the Egyptian subsidiary of DEA Deutsche ErdoelAG based in Cairo since the beginning of March

Dr Hans-Hermann Ecke has a PHD in geology. He is wellexperienced in Egypt‘s upstream industry and DEA Egypt’s E&Pprojects from his earlier employment as General Manager in the period from 2009 to 2011. In the years followed, he headed the New Ventures department as Senior Vice President at DEAheadquarters in Hamburg. Ecke was also posted to Cairo as Exploration Manager and Deputy General Manager from 2001 to 2005. Ecke has been employed in various positions at DEA since 1986.
One important task for Dr Ecke is the upcoming realisation of the West Nile Delta project. DEA is a partner in developing the 5 trillion cubic feet of gas resources. The total investment volumes of theproject partners amount to around 12 billion US Dollars
“This project is an exciting challenge. The start of production isplanned for 2017. Until then the project will be connected toexisting infrastructure,” states Dr Ecke. “The West Nile Delta development is considered as of prime importance for Egypt’s energy sector. It is expected to increase the daily Gas production in Egypt by approx. 25 per cent,” he added.
